INSTRUCTION
Tasks
I had to list down the tasks to keep track of it because there were wayyy too many things to do at once.
Week 1:
1. Deconstructing and constructing vehicles from references 5
x 3 types (land, air, water)
Week 2:
1. Look at "Sketching the Basics" in further readings and do some
basic sketches of any object that we see and practice
perspective.
2. Do 6 versions of a vehicle hybrid of any choice
Week 3:
1. Holiday no class
Week 4:
1. Pick out one vehicle from the sketches we did and then learn the
perspective (side, 3/4) by blocking it, before adding the curves and
details.
2. For project 1, select a theme, story, some silhouettes, mood
boards, etc.…
3. For silhouettes sketches do 5 each for air, land, and water
Week 7:
1. Continue with the silhouette sketches and finalize your mood board.
Week 6:
1. Pick out one of your favorite sketches of your chosen vehicle
and continue with a progression sketch where new components can be
added in or taken out.
Week 7:
1. For exercises, study the materials and finishes, study how it is
going to work with the structure of your vehicle, and how to colour
and render it by studying the value.
2. For project 1, continue exploring your sketches and describe the
components and functions of how it is going to work.
Week 8:
ILW no class.
Exercises
Week 1
In week 1, we were tasked to search images of air, land and water vehicles then do breakdown sketches on them to identify the shapes and blocks for the vehicles structure.

Week 2
In week 2, we had to do 6 sketches of a hybrid vehicle, I chose to do a moth x spaceship vehicle. I struggled a little with the perspective at the beginning but I had a lot of fun coming up with different ideas for the hybrid vehicles.

We were also task to do perspective studies on props.

Week 7
In week 7 we were tasked to do material studies to get an idea of how material surfaces are rendered like so that we can use this technique when rendering our vehicles later on.
Final
Week 4 (23/9/2022)
Number the vehicles so that it is easier to identify them during evaluation
to prevent confusion. Identify the themes of the vehicles to get a better
idea of the function of your vehicle. Draw from a 3/4 view so that it is
easier to visualize the vehicle. The antenna on the vehicles can be quite
flimsy, so try to make them thicker. As for the landing gear, for it to be
functional and able to move, look into mechanical components read, and
understand them. Try to not be too repetitive it will look overused and
boring, take different shapes and volumes to balance it out.
Week 9 (28/10/2022)
The materials looks cool, the gold and silver will have it's reflection depending on how polished the surface is. When it is very polished it will have a very nice rim. Grey or green slight. Do colour studies, it is fine but refine it, reflectivity admission and translucent and reflects.
REFLECTION
Having to block out shapes and drawing the vehicles was tough, it felt very technical to me like I was drawing a building for architecture. But I did had a lot of fun with the hybrid vehicles since we were allowed to create them however we want. I also enjoyed the material studies, it is nice to see that the more you paint, the more realistic it would get.
