REFLECTIONS
Experiences
Typography was definitely one of the most challenging module I faced this semester. I was very lost when I first started the first project as I was still new in all the Adobe software all the function of the tools and placement was very unusual for me. YouTube, Google and my friend had definitely been there for me when I was struggling the most, without any of them I might actually have no idea what I am doing. I struggled throughout the most of the process especially with Adobe InDesign and Adobe After Effects. Mr. Vinod and Mr. Charles teachings has taught me a lot and it has also let me notice more about my mistakes which makes me very willing to fix them. The lectures that we were given to watch at the start of the semester was a bit too much for my brain to handle. But in a way I found it quite good as I was able to dig out some points and knowledge through the lectures and slides which helped me a lot in my projects.
Throughout this whole module, I can definitely say that Project 3A was my favorite project of them all. Being able to design and create a typeface and actually make it usable was a huge accomplishment for me. I can definitely see myself creating another typeface of my own in the future.
Observation
I find myself to be more observant of my surroundings than before. From posters, product design, shop signs or passing by an advertisement street sign, I can find myself glancing and studying the little details that are put into the font design and alignment that they used. I even took some pictures of the advertisement street sign while I was in a car ride because I wanted to get inspiration and look at how they composed their typeface. It is really mind-blowing how a module can change your perspective in life where you just start to notice little details that you never noticed before. It helped me realize that in every design that we see at home, in a shop or at the streets it was all created by people who put in a lot of their effort and time into it.
Findings
This whole semester was pretty hectic so time management is something I need to fix. Other than that, I also have to be more consistent and discipline so that I do not get distracted by other things when I am doing my projects as it can take away so much of my time and I will have to end up rushing the whole process. Sketching and creating multiple digitalization outcomes are also something that I find very important in this module. As creating more of a work with even little changes can make a huge difference in the outcome, so having a lot of progress to look at and comparing them with each other helps me to notice the little details and mistakes I did and what should I add or take out.
